Project Description:

The Palm Court site is part of the Acorn Housing Complex, and previously contained apartment buildings developed in the late 1960s. In response to community input in the 1990s, the approximately 1.5 acre site was set aside for the development of 12 single-family homes when the entire project was re-designed and re-built. (8) three-bedroom homes and (4) four- bedroom homes will be built, similar to the Victorian homes in the neighborhood. Two of the homes will be accessible to people with disabilities. The homes will be built using sustainable methods and are designed for energy efficiency. In addition, they will be wired for separate telephone and internet access. Residents will also be able to access the Acorn computer learning and technology center. These agreements will also allow residents to avail themselves of all of the facilities (pool, community rooms and kitchens, etc.) that are used by the Acorn rental property in addition to the programs and social services offered through the Acorn community center. A new Cul-de-sac will be constructed with new utilities to access some of the units.
