In 2008 Habitat for Humanity East Bay will celebrate our 20 year anniversary and the completion of our 200th home in the East Bay. We are proud that we are helping to revitalize neighborhoods in Alameda and Contra Costa counties and we know that there is more to do. Currently we are building 20 homes per year, but we aim to increase this production so that we can complete the next 200 homes in just five years!
As leaders in building Green affordable housing we are committed to building all of our developments using environmentally sustainable techniques. We have already successfully built our developments in Livermore and East Oakland as Green developments. In February 2007, Build It Green, an independent California Green rating organzation, awarded Habitat East Bay for its Green building in Livermore. Build it Green gave Livermore a 95 for environmentally sustainable features and design. Going forward we plan to build homes that are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified.
