Habitat for Humanity East BayToday marked the last work day for at least 3 weeks due to lead abatement and a holiday weekend.
We took delivery of the linoleum and pedestal sink today. Rae and Lisa put final coat of paint on all the doors, working inside to be out of the sun. They also cleaned and got the 1st coat of paint on the medicine cabinet door.
KO put another coat of paint on the kitchen and then cleaned and painted some trim boards. Patricia put the final coat of paint on the bathroom. Monica and Wendy worked on the front sprinkler system, cleaning out all the heads and replacing 3 that were beyond repair. Front sprinkler system now runs well with no leaks!
Monica and Wendy then moved to the back yard where they staked out the proposed landscape design (laid out with paint by Monica and Cel last week) and ran string giving you a real sense of what it might someday look like. Hans showed up before noon to go over the proposed reworked landscape design before he met with the Landscape Architect later that afternoon so we can get some final plans.
At our morning break we enjoyed Monica's homemade Lemonade and shared snacks after which we went over to the neighbors house (at her request) and picked all the ripe Lemons, Grapefruit, artichokes, and tomatoes. This use to be her mothers house who recently passed away. She is fixing it up to rent. She doesn't want the produce to go to waste so had asked us to pick as much as we wanted.
Work day ended about 1:30 and temps hit 100 degrees.
Digging up a leaky sprinkler in the afternoon sun. Lead abatement begins, which will keep the volunteers off site for the next few weeks.
