Introducing the 2006-2007 AmeriCorps Members

She has plans to become the world’s smallest ju-jitsu master.
Stephen Eales previously served as an AmeriCorps NCCC member, performing community service in construction, trail building, disaster relief, and tree planting. It was his experience assisting with disaster relief efforts in the Golf Coast areas that motivated him to continue his service through AmeriCorps as a Construction Site Assistant. “The important thing for me is to gain appreciation for what I have by giving back, which will never be enough.” Stephen is originally from Stockton, and when he rides his bike to the summit of Mt. Diablo, he can see both his Stockton and Oakland homes.
Noah Matthew Frigault was born in Peru and raised by a Shetland tribe. Not much later, he dropped his PhD dissertation on Animal Halitosis to
pursue a life of charity. His birthday is coming up!
After spending a year traveling in Central and South America, Alejandra Guillen decided to make her new home in the East Bay. Ali will work for HFHEB as a Homeowner Relations Coordinator.
An avid cyclist, Bryan Kwee has worked as a bicycle technician and has taught bicycle restoration skills to other community members. Look for Bryan on critical mass rides! With his teaching skills from this experience, he’ll teach community volunteers construction skills this coming year. Brian studied ecodwelling at the New College of California North Bay, and now has the chance to put his education to practice. “What I hope to gain from serving as an AmeriCorps member is a renewed and reinvigorated look on life. I hope that it will demonstrate that each of our efforts can be a catalyst for positive change bigger than our own lives.”
Natalie Monk grew up in Oklahoma City, OK, attended school in Miami, FL, and currently resides in the Independent Republic of Berkeley. Anna Nellenback is originally from upstate New York but moved to Oakland via Omaha, Nebraska. She is very interested in learning more about East Bay's green building techniques and exploring the area in her spare time. Anna loves a good cup of coffee and freshly baked pastries. She enjoys playing with kittens and whistling.
Recently back in the US after a year in Europe as a Fulbright scholar, Megan Shea is happy to be back in the Bay Area and to throw herself into her job as Homeowner Relations Coordinator. Already she’s pleased with how much she’s learned about community organizing and urban politics under the most excellent tutelage of HfH staff. She is especially looking forward to making adventures in the Bay Area during the coming year for as little money as possible.
