Neighborhood Stabilization Program

Habitat for Humanity’s role in addressing the growing number of foreclosed homes continues to grow. We are working hard to form partnerships with local and federal government agencies, to help make a greater impact in the lives of East Bay families through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

New Partnerships

In addition to our current partnerships with Contra Costa County and the City of Hayward, Habitat East Bay recently joined in partnership with the City of Antioch to purchase five more foreclosed homes that will be rehabilitated and sold back to low-income community members at affordable rates.

Looking forward, we anticipate our role in this program to increase exponentially and eventually refurbish 40-60 foreclosed homes during the next three years. Our role in this program presents a chance to transform blight into opportunity for low-income families, but it also presents challenges that require the participation of the entire community.  We know that we cannot accomplish all of this building on our own.  We need your help!

How Can I Help East Bay Families?

Serving more families requires more support from the community, and already we have seen our community members respond. Since last year, we have seen volunteer numbers nearly double, and despite tough economic times our sponsors, supporters and volunteers continue to financially support our work.

As our rehab program grows in addition to our new construction efforts we will continue to need more help. Volunteers will be needed this summer, so sign up now! Opportunities are available Tuesdays through Saturdays throughout the East Bay, at both new developments and rehab homes. With builds taking place in Oakland, Hayward, Antioch, and Bay Point, choose an opportunity that’s close to home for you. Weekday volunteers in Bay Point are especially needed.

You can help us reach these goals. Work one extra day on the construction site, or better yet, bring a friend who has never to our construction site. You could make a donation, big or small. Join a committee to help our programs more smoothly.

There are many ways to ensure that Habitat East Bay serves more families. Now, when our neighbors need our help the most, we must step-up to the challenge.
