2008 Earth Day Build-A-Thon

The Earth Day Build-A-Thon is Habitat for Humanity East Bay's celebration of green building. HEB is the only local organization that creates affordable ownership opportunities for very low-income families, while building in an environmentally-sustainable way. Our Build-A-Thon is an accelerated build. While it would typically take several months to completely frame six homes, at this event we aimed to do that in only four days! And, we did. Over 250 volunteers raised $130,000 dollars and completely framed six homes. The accelerated build will allow six new partner families to move in to their homes in time for the holidays this year.

2008 Executive Build

To kick off the 2008 Build-A-Thon, over 30 bay area executives built alongside their corporate peers in the first annual Executive Build to pound nails and raise the first walls of Habitat for Humanity East Bay’s 200th home while demonstrating their personal and their company’s commitment to affordable, sustainable housing. View the invitation for details.

This event celebrated our corporate partners and leaders who helped us build our first 200 homes over the past 20 years and launched the campaign to build the next 200 homes in just five years!

20th Anniversary Community Celebration

On April 20th, Habitat East Bay hosted a Community Celebration in conjunction with the 2008 Earth Day Build-A-Thon. At this carnival-style event, we invited community members to witness the Build-A-Thon in progress, tour a completed green home, learn more about our programs, enjoy refreshments, and take part in Habitat-themed games and activities.

Edes Avenue Dedication

On December 8th, 2007, 12 partner families received the keys to their new homes during a celebration ceremony that included entertainment by singer/songwriter Miko Marks and games and activities for children. The community gathered together to share in the joy and celebrate the accomplishments of the partner families. These 12 families joined six families who moved into the Habitat East Bay community last year.

This fundraising event benefited Habitat for Humanity East Bay, enabling more deserving families with children to have a home of their own this holiday season. Thank you to our friends at St. Mary's Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill for hosting the event.
