Roger and Judy Haughton Build -- 15 Years Supporting Habitat

When Roger Haughton picked up a hammer to begin work on a Habitat for Humanity East Bay home on Friday, May 30, 2008, he was joined by a special team of family, friends and top bay area business leaders who helped him celebrate his recent retirement as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of PMI Group, Inc. His team was part of a one-of-a-kind celebration and building day at the Edes Avenue Development in Oakland.

Roger Haughton and his wife, Judy, have a 15-year history with Habitat for Humanity and are proud of their local, national and international involvement. “We dreamed that when we retired we would help fund a house for Habitat for Humanity,” said Roger. “We’ve long been proponents of the fact that homeownership opportunities help build families and stronger communities. Our gift of $50,000, which has been matched by a gift of $50,000 by PMI Group, Inc., will sponsor a family’s home. This is a great and happy day of celebration - truly a dream come true!“

Roger added, “This event brought together friends, family and business colleagues who we hope will get more involved in the support of Habitat. We worked together and had fun helping families who are working hard for home ownership.”
